Caliper Review, Summary Functions and Using Meters for Timber

A measuring instrument in the any other form and format than the tape roll or fold. This tool works much in most areas of the wood components production. This is very useful for getting control size and dimensions of precision and accuracy. Thickness of wood, the depth of pen hole, hole dowel diameter and diameter dowel itself can be measured well by the caliper. Meter is not capable of running these tasks as well as caliper.
Caliper parts:
1. Outer tooth: functions to measure the external dimensions (thick, wide or log diameter)
2. Teeth in: for the measurement of the inside (wide pen hole, drill a hole diameter, flow etc.)
3. Measuring depth: It is best to measure the pen hole, drill hole and the flow hole.
4. The main size (cm): The main scale used for reading the measurement results.
5. Secondary Size (inch): an alternative scale in units of inch.
6. Benchmark reading the main scale (cm)
7. Benchmark scale reading of secondary (inch)
8. Stopping or launch a displacement measurements.
Size Scale
With the same bars the media have a different reading of the size of the caliper. First regular manner as in the reading of the meter roll, then there is a needle attached to an analog measure of the face (with stopper) or use a digital display. Which types best suits you and is relative because each has weaknesses. Types that use analog or digital scale have a possible change of scale used for reading after a certain time. For that reason this tool is needed to be calibrated more often than usual. For those who do not understand about how to read an accurate, this type is better because it presents a direct measure of the scale of 2 decimal places. For a QC, this tool like a driver's license should be taken wherever she was. Every least once a year to do calibration, a kind of periodic checks whether the gauge is still fit for use and in accordance with applicable international standards. In some places use this type of caliper is made of plastic materials. Of course that means quality is very doubtful given that plastic is less stable material and can change shape because of the impact and others. Even that has been made of metal materials still need to doubt its accuracy. A good caliper made from materials called INOX, a lightweight metal hardware, durable and rust resistant. Calibration can be done simply by internal or ask others more competent. Are your caliper is still eligible to be used as a measuring tool?

Using Meters for Timber
Because the price is cheap and easily available in any store building, carpentry tools are often not treated well or not considered important parts. Besides choosing a good meter is does not mean expensive that the conversion of excessive size. Here are things that we need to consider before buying the meter and when we use it as a tool:
1. Size scale numbers must be clear and not easy to peel. Check the truth of the size scale with another measure that is more precise (caliper or drill bit).
2. Part stopper tip meter must flexible, able to move forward / backward for the thickness of stopper rod tip. This is important for the accuracy of the measurement results in a cabinet or the depth of the construction hole.
3. Better you select an existing meter that have rolling stopper to avoid folding movement is too fast so that the fingers and hand injuries we avoid friction.
4. Keep the meter stick straight (not bent or twisted) so the result remains true measurement.
5. To measure the area that is not the elbows, use a straight stick or metal rod straight to the beginning of the measurement.
6. Do not use the meter to make a straight line.
7. Do not use metal tape measure to measure curved areas.
