Understanding Artificial Board

Previously I have written about how to understand the plywood as an alternative material. But I think the article is less focused on the explanation of the characteristics of these materials. In this post I will mention more knowledgeable about artificial boards (plywood boards including one made). In international terms is called 'engineered wood'. Various kinds of artificial board produced in accordance with the more advanced technology and consumer demand for raw materials which will be better, efficient and more 'environmental friendly'.
Multiplex
Artificial boards made from several layers of thin wood and arranged in the direction transverse to each other with each layer. These layers are called veneer. The numbers of layers multiplex always odd, not even. There is no other reason than a technical reason is that in every multiplex veneer arrangement, the outermost layer of fiber must be arranged in line. After that the contents veneer fibers arranged crosswise. The reason is to cover the weaknesses of wood are easily broken and divided in the direction of the fiber. The middle layer (core) fiber direction is always transverse direction outermost veneer fiber, regardless of the number of layers. In terms of construction, strength and the current process multiplex including the best material among other artificial boards.
Softboard
Form of artificial boards made from sawdust and sandpaper. Manufacturing process is similar to MDF, but the density of smaller material. This material is the material that you often use for bulletin board that can be pierced with a needle to attach paper brochures or announcements.
Chipboard
Chipboard is made from wood chips from the machine work, mixed with glue with high pressure. No melting process as in the MDF. This material is usually you see as the material for packing machine tools, pallets, or boxes of goods at the time of delivery.
Blockboard
It’s veneering same way with the multiplex. The difference is the number of layers and size of the wood core in the middle layer.
Hardboard
This artificial board has a very high density and use of most of the thickness less than 6mm. MDF shortfalls that do not have good staying power on the thickness below 6mm. These boards are often also called the High Density Fiber.
MDF (Medium Density Fiber)
Materials are very good and strong for interior furniture. Existing weaknesses in the thick side and the absence of fibers on the surface is not a difficult problem to overcome.
Of all types of boards made in the above have strengths and weaknesses of each component in accordance with the area of furniture you want to apply. Standard sizes of all types of board is 1220mm x 2440mm. Width is mainly to adjust the machine artificial/made board.
